The Classical Music RoadmapTickets Free
Classical concertos are more than just an excuse for a soloist to show off. In the right hands, they can push at boundaries and take the genre in a whole new direction. Using his usual mix of piano and audiovisual demonstrations, Jonathan James will navigate the way through some of wonderful examples being played this season, including ground-breaking works by Vivaldi, Beethoven, Brahms and Dvorák. Find out how this music broke new ground and why it remains so very popular.
With live music and legendary recordings in state-of-the-art sound, this is the perfect way to get into classical music, suitable for both newcomers and regular concert-goers.
Jonathan James has been enthusing about music to concert audiences and in classrooms for over twenty years, ever since he started giving pre-performance talks as a conductor. His freelance work as a presenter, interviewer and workshop leader takes him to concert halls all over the UK and Europe and he is regularly engaged by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Next season marks his debut as presenter-conductor with the Czech Philharmonic in Dublin.
