Mozart 12 Variations on “Ah vous dirai-je, Maman”
Mendelssohn Variations Sérieuses, Op. 54
Ravel Sonatine pour piano
Chopin Scherzo No. 2 in B flat minor, Op. 31
A BBC New Generation Artist known for her maturity and sensitivity, Elisabeth Brauss presents four refined works, grown from simple elements. Mozart’s delightful variations on the ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’ theme build a substantial work from the simplest melody. Mendelssohn’s Variations, one of the key works of the Romantic period, shows restrained virtuosity, whilst Ravel’s Sonatine, which began life as a single movement written for a competition, is a bright, clear and fluid creation. Chopin’s popular Scherzo No. 2 is big and brawny, filled with magical coloration and overflowing with tenderness.
Admission price includes tea, coffee and cake.
