The Classical Music RoadmapClassical Music
Using fun illustrations and a variety of musical excerpts, Jonathan James will take you on a whistle-stop tour of a thousand years of classical music, from medieval monks to modern masters. It’s ideal for anyone wanting ways in to appreciating classical music, whether new to the scene or a seasoned listener. We’ll have a look behind the curtain on some of the key works being performed this season too. At the end there will be time to ask any questions you have, including on how classical music is performed and presented.
With live music and legendary recordings in state-of-the-art sound, this is the perfect way to get into classical music, suitable for both newcomers and regular concert-goers.
Jonathan James has been enthusing about music to concert audiences and in classrooms for over twenty years, ever since he started giving pre-performance talks as a conductor. His freelance work as a presenter, interviewer and workshop leader takes him to concert halls all over the UK and Europe and he is regularly engaged by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Next season marks his debut as presenter-conductor with the Czech Philharmonic in Dublin.
