Schumann Kinderszenen, Op. 15
Clara Schumann Nocturne in F major, Op. 6 No. 2
Cheryl Frances-Hoad Contemplation (after Grieg)
Grieg Nocturne, Op. 54 No. 4 Study (Homage to Chopin)
Chopin Piano Sonata in B flat minor, Op. 35 “Funeral March”
Acclaimed British pianist Tom Poster, described as having “a beautiful tone that you can sink into” celebrates four great Romantic composers. Robert Schumann’s genius is displayed in the poetic charm of his Kinderszenen whilst Chopin’s famous ‘Funeral March’ sonata is stunningly lyrical, with grand themes of life and death. Linking these are Clara Schumann’s beautifully rich Nocturne, contemporary composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad’s lyric Contemplation, and Grieg’s own dreamlike Nocturne and a ‘Homage to Chopin’.
Each concert lasts an hour. Tickets include tea, coffee and cake.
