A very popular performer at the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall, Sheffield-based pianist, Dale Storr is one of the world’s leading exponents of New Orleans piano. Described by Jazz Journal magazine as the “piano man’s piano man…” and “a national treasure”, Dale has toured extensively across the UK and Europe, captivating audiences with his virtuosity and sharing his encyclopaedic knowledge of New Orleans’ history and its piano heroes.
In a nod to the visiting orchestra on 20 May, Dale’s After Hours set is based around Richard Addinsell’s famous Warsaw Concerto, spinning intricate blues grooves from classical piano compositions and featuring the music of the maverick blues master, James Booker.
“‘A very, very fine piano player indeed’ – Paul Jones, BBC Radio 2
“‘If there is a better New Orleans-style pianist in the UK than the outrageously talented Dale Storr, please point me in his or her direction because he or she must be very, very special’ – Lionel Ross, Blues in Britain
