Ex Cathedra – “one of Britain’s very best choirs” (New York Times) – comes to the Royal Concert Hall with an epic programme with no fewer than four pieces written in 40 parts. There are two works composed especially for Ex Cathedra and a rare opportunity to hear their iconic model, the monumental Spem in alium.

The 50th anniversary of the first manned orbit of the Moon is also the perfect time to hear Alec Roth’s 40-part Earthrise, a stunning piece that takes its inspiration from that breath-taking Apollo 8 photo. Astronomer Bill Anders later recounted: “We came all this way to explore the Moon, and the most important thing is that we discovered the Earth … it was the most beautiful, heart-catching sight of my life.”

Venue: Royal Concert Hall
