Award-winning Streetwise Opera brings a modern twist to Mozart’s comic masterpiece, The Marriage of Figaro.
Sing along, have a laugh and leave inspired after this short opera featuring people who’ve experienced homelessness, special guest artists and live music from the Orchestra of Opera North.
Factory boss Count Almaviva abuses his power to try to block the wedding between Figaro and Susanna. But the couple team up with the Countess to fight back and save the day.
This piece includes music by Mozart alongside new commissions by Alex Ho and Tim Lole. The production is directed by Rosie Kat.
As part of the event, Streetwise Opera will run a short, practical workshop explaining how this piece was co-created.
Reimagining Figaro is part of Reimagining the Classics, a collaboration between Streetwise Opera, Opera North and English Touring Opera that flips opera’s biggest stories on their heads with bold new music, performed in Nottingham, Manchester and London.
