Take off on a magical musical adventure as BBC Radio 3’s Friday Night is Music Night returns to the Royal Concert Hall. The BBC Concert Orchestra is joined by West End singing sensation Alice Fearn and brilliant Nottingham pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason in a spectacular programme of film favourites and orchestral classics.

From the sweeping cinematic score of How to Train Your Dragon to the soaring vocals of ‘Defying Gravity’ from Wicked, and a heartwarming Studio Ghibli gem from My Neighbour Totoro, there’s something for everyone. The programme also features popular classics from Rimsky-Korsakov, Grieg and Saint-Saëns, and at the heart of the programme, Jeneba performs Ravel’s dazzling, jazz-infused Piano Concerto in G.

Full of vibrant energy, this concert brings to life the vision of a team of young creatives from Nottingham’s Universities and Music Hub who have curated the programme with conductor Edwin Outwater, Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra. The concert also includes a trio of exciting new pieces from young Nottingham composers.
