We aim to make every customer's visit as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. Please advise us of your needs at the time of booking and we will do everything we can to help.

We offer a range of captioned, audio described, relaxed and sign language interpreted performances. You can find details of all the productions currently offering an assisted performance here. Both our venues have level access points, ramps, lifts and adapted toilets available for customers. Assistance Dogs are welcome in both the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall. You can take your dog into the auditorium or you can use our dog sitting service. Bowls of water are available if required. Please advise us of your needs at the time of booking.

We offer an infra-red Sennheiser transmission system to relay sound to customers who are hard of hearing. Headsets and neck loops are available free of charge from our foyer Access desks. Customers and their companions are welcome to visit the Theatre prior to attending a performance in order to familiarise themselves with the venue’s layout. These visits can be arranged through our Access Officer.

Reduced price tickets are available to customers with disabilities, subject to status and availability. Should you require the support of a carer or companion, you can join our Access Requirement Register to benefit from a reduced price on their ticket, too.

If you have a query about accessibility, please contact our Access Team via email

Access Location Guide

Ramps, Lifts & Stairs

Drop Off and Pick Up Point
The closest drop off and pick up point is the lay-by outside the Royal Concert Hall’s main entrance on South Sherwood Street.  (GPS nearest postcode NG1 4BY) Please note that parking in the lay-by is not permitted. At this time of year the layby on South Sherwood Street is extremely busy due to the large number of events happening at the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall. The layby is available for customer drop off and collection however we kindly ask that customers minimise waiting time in the layby to allow everyone access and so they can get to the venue safely. We have been advised by Nottingham City Council that Civil Enforcement Officers will be patrolling the area to ensure that vehicles do not utilise the layby as general parking, if you would like information about car parking in the area please speak to our Box Office who can advise you based on your requirements.

Level Access
There is level access to the Theatre Royal via the YARN bar entrance on South Sherwood Street, opposite the main entrance to the Royal Concert Hall. From South Sherwood Street there is level access into the Royal Concert Hall via the automated door on the far right of the main entrance.

Ramped access to the Theatre Royal is to the far left of the portico entrance. These doors are automated. During performances, ramped access to the Royal Concert Hall is available from Burton Street.

Lift Facilities
There is a lift in both the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall that services all levels.

In the Theatre Royal, we would advise customers who require level access to seating to book seats in the Stalls. In the Theatre Royal we have a lift that services all foyer levels and the Dress Circle restaurant.  However it should be noted that there are flights of stairs to reach seating inside the auditorium on the Dress Circle, Upper Circle and Balcony levels.  All levels of the Royal Concert Hall are accessible by lift. There are a small number of stairs to reach some seating on Tier 1 and Tier 2.

Toilet Facilities
Both the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall have adapted toilets available for customers with disabilities.

Wheelchair Positions
Wheelchair spaces are located in the Stalls and the Dress Circle of the Theatre Royal auditorium and in the Stalls and Tier 1 in the Royal Concert Hall. To view seating plans for both venues click here.
Scooters and large size wheelchairs may require the allocation of two standard size wheelchair spaces. Please advise us of your needs at the time of booking.

Wheelchair Transfers and Walkers
Our staff will look after your walker or wheelchair once you have transferred to your seat.
