Step into a night of musical magic as BBC Radio 3’s Friday Night is Music Night comes from Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall and this time, it’s something truly special. The BBC Concert Orchestra joins forces with a dynamic group of young creatives from Nottingham’s Universities and Music Hub to co-curate an unforgettable evening of orchestral brilliance.
Expect a vibrant, youthful energy as these emerging programmers bring their vision to life alongside conductor Edwin Outwater, Principal Guest Conductor and Curator of the BBC Concert Orchestra. At the heart of the programme is Jeneba Kanneh-Mason, Nottingham’s own rising star pianist, performing Ravel’s dazzling Piano Concerto in G.
From the sweeping cinematic score of How to Train Your Dragon to the soaring vocals of ‘Defying Gravity’ from Wicked, and a heartwarming Studio Ghibli gem from My Neighbour Totoro, this concert promises something for everyone.
Recorded live for BBC Radio 3, this is more than a concert – it’s a celebration of Nottingham’s next generation of musical talent. Come and be part of a night where fresh ideas meet timeless music.
