Nominated for multiple Tony, Drama Desk and Olivier awards – Chess won two Best Musical awards in 1986 and the Ivor Novello award for “I Know Him So Well”

Chess returns to the Nottingham Theatre Royal for the first time since 2010 in a new, reimagined production.

Originally launched as a concept album by Sir Tim Rice, with music by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus (ABBA), the first production ran for three years in the West End in 1986, and has continued to be staged all over the world.

It is about to take Broadway by storm in November 2025 in a spectacular new production starring Lea Michele and Aaron Tveit. A love story set against the very current backdrop of American and Russian politics, Chess has a dazzling score including One Night in Bangkok, Anthem, Heaven Help My Heart and I Know Him So Well.

Come watch ‘the games begin’ with this new production, from the company that brought you Les Misérables and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2025.

Music by: Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus
